It's an either you love it or you don't thing.
    Stigma?

You might want to sit down beside a campfire with some folks before you go generalizing.

As far as I'm concerned, those who would place a stigma on folks who prefer camo won't be the kind I'll be sharing a campfire with, and neither will those who place a stigma on people who choose thier gear because they think it will make them look like the guys on the covers of Backpacker and Outside magazines, or the guys who avoid either choice because they don't want to look like "those strange people."

Better to fight the stereotypes than to go along with them.

Does this mean I can't be a cool kid since I am building a Woodland Camo and Orange setup?

I think the assumption that the camo straps are easier to leave behind forgotten is a question of perception. I think that's just a question of being used to your gear.

On each one of our trips we have to teach people how to set up their hammocks and tarp. And no matter how many times we repeat it, almost invariably someone will leave a strap wrapped around a tree. We've just made it a habit to go around and check every spot after people are already packed and before heading down the trail.

I really doubt that the color of the strap has any bearing in it.

Get at least one piece of gear with "North Face" written on it and get your hiking poles from REI and you'll be OK.

In fact, the more gear you have with a label on it, the better you will do.

Why isn't Camo webbing a big seller?

    Haha, I feel concerned, too

On a 14 days trip it usually takes 7 to get organized with my gear so that I don't have to look everywhere, run around and be last to be ready the next morning

Went to a scout camp out at a gun club and ZERO camo anything was allowed.I thought that was interesting but I didn't have any.It is just something I do not care for.Besides it only works where your camo matches the fauna. I do not care for blaze orange either ,but there are times when it is a good idea.

I totally understand that thought process.
I'd think that at a gun club the last thing you'd want is your scouts wandering around camp in camoflage.

Oh, guess I need to go max out the credit card and get rid of all the DIY gear.

I like camo because it blends in and the critters don't spook as much -- in fact, it makes them curious, which is fun to watch.
