As many people have said in countless threads, this forum is an amazing source for information. When reading about UQ's, I read a lot about DIY, and cottage vendors, and decided to check out these smaller vendors. I had a ton of questions since I'm a complete newb. What rating? What material? What's the lowest temp I'm *REALLY* going to be out there in? After discussing with a fellow NY'er, he suggested I reach out to Paul at UGQ. I'm really glad that I did.
From the start, Paul's emails were thorough, informative and friendly. First I was looking at a 40*, but it wasn't wide enough for my walrus-like physique. Not a problem, said Paul. We'll add a baffle or 2. I then decided I'd want to error on the side of being warmer than I needed and was going to go with the 20*. Again, Paul was more than accommodating with information on venting, hanging it properly and making sure I had all the info I needed to make an informed purchase. He even answered questions on hanging in general. And it was never "well, we sell a product that will help...". It was real, honest answers. All of this was before I'd even bought anything.
I received my UQ exactly 1 week from when I ordered it. During our correspondence I had mentioned I was going on a trip Aug 2, and Paul wanted to be sure I had it in time. It came well packaged, no damage whatsoever, included a stuff sack (I'm going to feel like a magician getting the UQ into it, the size difference is substantial!), instructions and even a hat! A nice, soft fleece hat that my bald head is going to really enjoy during the cooler nights.
The UQ has fluffed up nicely, and I can't wait to use her next weekend. I'll write another manifesto after I use it, describing a newb's first hanging experience and my thoughts on the Zeppelin in action.
The amazing level of customer service and the quality of the product itself have made me a happy hanger. Thanks Paul!
