    It works it works!

To those that replied in my earlier post about the missing part on my sewing machine:
I emailed the people @ sew4less to see if they had a screw to match the thread guide I purchased from them. Although they didnt have a screw to match it, they offered to send me some screws out of what they called their "old stock" to see if one would fit. There was one in the bag that fit my needle bar perfectly so after spending some time cleaning her up today, adjusting my feed dog height and oiling everything up....IT WORKS!

I played around with it alot last night just getting the feel for it. Unfortunately I dont have a great spot to set it up. I do have an old sewing table I can confiscate from my wife's decorations. I didnt even know we had one as its always been hidden under a piece of fabric, ha ha. Its either that or use the dining room table. Needless to say, I was sitting on the floor operating the foot pedal with my hand so sewing a straight line that way was , well, a challenge. It appears to my untrained eye to be sewing really good. I adjusted the upper tension all the way in both directions just to see what would happen/see what a poor stitch with improper tension looked like and I couldnt get it to sew bad. Either my tension doesnt work well or I dont know what I'm looking at. I inspected the stitches every time and it always looked as though the stitches were locking in between the layers as they should. The only time I saw any loops form was after sewing through quite a few layers of PU coated ripstop and even then it wasnt that bad. Im very happy so far as I figured Id be frustrating myself to death trying to dial it in. Had a little issue at first because the feed dogs werent feeding the fabric. I had adjusted the height of them before my first stitch because I noticed they werent coming up enough to clear the throat plate. Turned out I had my foot pressure set at the lowest setting. Easily remedied by pushing a button. All in all, even though I havent made anything yet it was fun using it. I think my first project will be some snake skins and a bugnet. I also plan on sewing on some extra pullouts on my tarp. I can finally replace the tabs I hand sewed to the ridge ends. They look like crap ha ha.
