Unpacked my bug net version. Swapped out some whoopies and it looks great. It is not huge. But I'm short so it's all good.

Take a stick and shove it between the shock cords (perpendicular to the hammock and the two shock cord lines suspending the bug net) to spread it out.

Said stick is now a "spreader bar".

Not sure what you mean. Too much sag or the material bunching up beneath you?

If the bug net is bunching up and it is bothering you but not touching you, close your eyes and the problem will go away! ;-)

I put the ridge line between the locking biners that came with it (after replacing the horribly stretchy rope that also came with it).

FWIW, what I do with the rope through the channel is pull the loop through itself between the knot and the channel, which gathers the channel tightly and allows connection to the carabiner (via lark's head or just by slipping it on).
