Great TR and photos g2 and Kyle. Thank you guys for sharing your adventure.
Did flies or lures catch the most fish?
Did you guys get any lightning with that rain?

Man Oh Man, that looks like one great trip!
The trees look like they are in pretty darn good shape. There are so many damaged/dead/dieing ones in the Rockies.
Cracker Barrel in Pueblo? Wow! I used to live in Pueblo, for one year 76-77. Worked as an RN in the ER at St.Mary-Corwin hospital. I was not yet into hiking/backpacking, but still was big into the outdoors as a hunter and car camper. Actually, I lived in Pueblo West. Turned off of some 4 lane down the main entrance to that community, heading west I think, and drove down that road most of the way to where I rented a duplex on the right of that main road. Not very much further down ( still heading south or SW I think) to the end of that road was a wildlife area ( I think), and I would park there and hike down to the Arkansas river. I remember looking west at the "Wet Mountains". And of course Pike's Peak to the North/northwest. I sure did love it there, and my heart was breaking when I left there to go back to anesthesia school in PA.
Great report and pics!

We exclusively used flies. I threw a Mepps spinner for a while but the fish were running from it. It was pretty much feast or famine with the trout. They were either hitting any fly you threw in the water or none. There didn't seem to be a particular color or pattern that was working better than the others.
There was some lightning, but not much.
Beautiful country, great pics, thanks for sharing

The guitar was pretty legit. I'd never seen anyone pack in a guitar either, but apparently it was pretty light. It definitely took campfire sitting to a whole new level.
What lightning we had was pretty intense. We had a few really good claps of thunder that, thanks to the valley, echoed and seemed amplified. Really cool.
And the guitar was a really cool addition to the night. I certainly wouldn't be caught packing one, but I'm sure glad he did! Too bad someone didn't pack in a harmonica or something too, coulda had a small band going, haha.
Just re-read my trip report and realized how much I miss the Rockies!
That makes 2 of us. Thanks to all that made this trip such a good memory.
