    Hello all!/any advice??

    Hello all!

I'm Laura, I知 brand new to the forums and also to hammocks I actually just tried my first hammock out today and I知 already hooked. I have an ENO doublenest with slap straps. I actually bought the hammock at the beginning of the week for when my boyfriend and I go camping or hiking. Once I got home I thought I would browse around and see if there were any forums and this one popped up. I had no idea hammocks were so popular to camp in. Well anyways if yall have any advice or anything I would greatly appreciate it since I have no clue what I知 doing and have only set my hammock up once.

    Thanks!!
    Laura

    Welcome aboard!

Have a look around - there's a ton of options for tarps, under-insulation and other things that will make your hammocking easier and warmer.

Welcome. As Lori said, look around the forums. There is a lot of solid info as well as references to a couple of other good sites (e.g. - JustJeff's). One of my hammocks (well, my son actually claims it...) is an ENO doublenest. I slept comfortably in it last week down to 22 degrees. Insulation underneath is a key to comfort. As is keeping the weather (wind, rain, snow, etc) off you.

    Again, welcome.

Welcome to Hammock Forums! Glad you made your way here. I'll second what Sir White Wolf said, read and learn on the forums and join us for a hang. Next one coming up is in Hot Springs, NC April 24-26. Hope you and your boyfriend can make it. There is always plenty to do, new faces to meet and interesting gear, both store bought and do-it-yourself, to be seen. You can learn a ton from others at the hangs, I know I have. My girlfriend is a recent hammock convert as well. Don't be afraid to ask questions, post them as you please. Someone will have an answer for you pretty quick, usually. Again, welcome to the Hanging Gang, you'll never want to go back to ground again.

    hello lilcarr ,
You can also checkout the video area. Where you'll find it entertaining and educational . People like shug and Turk making videos of there trips into the woods show their setups and gear in action. To videos from people like ramblinrev and others showing how to make your own gear hammocks, underquilts, caldera stoves and so on. Also check out the 4 sale forum for gear.

Welcome to the forum and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the people in here that will help you. Learn a lot about insulation though .

Good to have yet another Tennessean on board! Maybe we're closing in on hosting a Smoky Mtn Hang in the near future... or are we already doing those and nobody told me? It's OK, I'm used to it... no, really... I'll be alright... eventually
There's no such thing as bad weather... just bad gear.

Advise? Forget what you've seen and run, run, run! Too late? At least you found a good support group.

Best way to work through this without reading for 6 months is to ask specific questions. How do I....? They've all been asked, don't feel bad. You'll get straight answers here. Welcome to the forums!
