well if this pad/mat idea ends up just being a swing and and a miss, then I may try the GG pad. I am going to try it out this weekend to I should have something to report on monday.
I have a WB-RR for me and a JRB-BMBH for my g/f and both have the "pouch" under the hammock for a pad. I use "reflectix" which I purchased at Lowe's and a 6' length by 24" wide weighs only 9.5 oz. They roll up to about a 5" diameter and work great for 3 season hammocking.

Well, I got to try it out. It was not very cold but cold enough to get chilled if you slept with nothing under you. A buddy of mine had nothing and said he felt pretty cold. It was probably only a few degrees below 70 but there was a good breeze. I am happy to report that I was very comfortable with the bath mat under me and a sheet on top. I did not have any moisture build up under me like I have had with other foam pads in the past. I would like to see how it would do down to 60 or so. Anything lower than that and I would just use my under quilt. I rolled it and put it in my pack first to give the pack more structure. Then I stuffed all my other gear inside the mat. Though I would like to do more testing, I think I will call it a success as far as a very comfortable warmer weather option.
Used it down to a rainy 60ish degrees with a light fleece blanket. It was a great success! I am not sure how much colder it could go but it did everything I was hoping for.
Stayed warm
Never got clammy
No slipping around in the hammock
I would recommend it for anyone looking for a super cheap and easy 60+ option.
