    Baltimore Area Noob here

    Hello all,

I've been lurking for a few days. Great resource you've built here!

I only own some backyard Kelsyus (portable) Hammocks *queue laughter*.

Looking to stop sleeping on the ground while backpacking. Also, the Catskills is possibly my favorite destination, which can be rocky.

Next trip a buddy will be using his Hennessey and I get to borrow an ENO double. Perhaps that will shape my first hammock purchase.

Welcome from another B-More native. You should check out the fall MAHA its only like an hr from Baltimore and its a great place to learn and try out different hammocks first hand.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

    Thanks lazy river!

I saw a mention of the MAHA from the thread on "lostear's" intro.

I'll try, but am likely not to make it. I'm running the Baltimore half my wife's bday weekend, so the celebration is likely to occur during the MAHA weekend.

Hey, thanks for the welcome everyone!

Does most everyone here use their hammocks for backpacking shelters? Or other (e.g. Full time sleeper -- which seems cool at hard core all at the same time)?

Also, I see some others have explain their handle...

I grew up split between Baltimore (dad's - specifically "pig town") and Newark, DE (mom's). Ultimately went to University of Delaware (home of the Blue Hens) for undergrad and moved to Baltimore area for work 2006.

How about football? Obsessed RAVENS fan here...

I'm a'Skins fan. Been one since I can remember. I do pull for the Ravens though. Good stuff happening in Baltimore sports!

    Welcome!

When you setup that ENO Doublenest pay close attention to try to get your hammock to hang at a 30* angle on the ends. This needs to be done in order to get comfortable easily. This past weekend I spent my first night in a hammock (ENO DN) and I didn't sleep very well..... My setup was probably all wrong, I had no idea that I should try to get the suspension at a 30* angle.....

If I were on a 2 night trip or more I could have been pretty miserable not being able to sleep well.

Just a little tip that I learned the hard way.

Good luck and enjoy yourself here at HF!
