    newbie questions

just got the double nest and wondering about a couple things.
I am 230lbs and the atlas straps are rated to 200lbs. if the hammock is rated to 400, then why aren't not the webbing?
what is the best way to put in a ridgeline for in this hammock? again I am just starting out so lots of questions, no experience.
    thanks,

I can't try your strap question, because I've not used the Atlas straps, but before I modded my SN, I just tied my ridgeline to the carabiners. I've seen others larkshead them on to the line behind the biner too, although I don't know how well that works first hand.

    thanks,
Here's a note from ENO regarding the Pro Straps and it may help you with the Atlas straps:

All of our straps hold 200lbs each for a combined capacity of 400lbs so you should be fine with your Pros! The one recommendation I’d make is to perhaps look into the Atlas Strap which is a polyfilament material rather than a nylon which has a lot less stretch to it, meaning that when you set up your hammock and sit in it, you won’t find yourself sinking to the ground and have to readjust. I’ve found that, regardless of weight, the Pros and the original Slap Strap seem to have this tendancy. Works for some to have that extra bounce, less for others.

You'll have to wait for someone else to answer regarding the ridgeline. I don't use one.

ENO really doesn't understand hammock physics.

First off I would recommend watching Shugs videos on youtube, they are full of info

This is 1 of 9 or so videos to help new hangers out
    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d7NZVqpBUV0

Second I would order some whoopie slings and tree straps which if you don't know what they are you will after the first Shug video. I would recommend ditching the carabiners and and eno straps

You can pull up how to install whoopie slings onto eno hammock on youtube it is super easy. IMHO that would be a good starting point.

Darkbyrd is right about the math. And even if you were dead hanging somthing off 2 vertical lines that wouldn't add up. People move around in hammocks and make it a dynamic load.
I wouldn't worry about the breaking strength on the straps though. It is pretty hard to find a piece of webbing that will have a breaking strength less the a few thousand lbs, even the cheap Walmart 1" straps have a working load limit of 800 lbs. the straps are probably the strongest point in your system. Also I outweigh you by a kennel full of dogs and I hung in a double nest probably a thousand times without a problem.

Yes, I'm sure the straps are strong enough, hang on them with no fear. I'd venture to say they are not "rated" at 200#, that is just what they are saying.

FYI, the force on each strap is the weight in the hammock, not half the weight like they assume.
