Just talked to Adam the camp director. He is good with us coming there on the 3rd weekend of october. No problems with hammocks.
Notes.
Running water only at first pavilion but it is centrally located.
2 existing latrines, he suggested renting two additional porta johns $100 each.
$50 deposit. Other fees will be invoiced and can be paid on site.
Limited nearby parking but plenty at overflow area.
Pavilion is smaller and more primative than Gathland.
There are multiple fire pits throughout area.
No electrical
This is a Christian Family Friendly camp so I believe no alcohol. Like Pine Grove Furnace.
Unfortunately not adjacent to AT
One hour south of Gathland. Near hwy 15 and hwy 50
I plan to go by afterwork this week or next anyone else nearby wanna meet with me to look it over?
Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. All the replies I am getting from the mass emails sent out to various campgrounds all say they cant accomodate us. Think only 2 so far were able to do so but the locations weren't appealing to many. The only thing I dislike is the $50 deposit but I can manage..Is that per person?
I'm beginning to feel really bad about losing my cell phone at last year's MAHHA. Gathland was a great place.
There is just one $50 dollar deposit. Then at Campout each camper gives their portion. Organizer then pays camp at end. That way we don't pay for no shows.

How cold is it at that time of year in that part of va, day average, night average?
60s/40s average
70s/30s extreme
October is a great time camp in this area.
Won't be quite a cold as Gathland since we would be off the mountain.
