    Florida Hangers

    Hello

I am new to the forums as you can tell. Reading the threads I am noticing a lot of you guys are also living in Florida. I figured we could start a thread for active Florida hangers. I know there is a spread sheet but it doesn't really say what city in which you reside.

I am living in Tampa. I moved down here 2 years ago. I love camping but really have not been down here since I moved from Maryland.

Please introduce your self and tell us where you are from. Perhaps if we get enough interest we can set up a hang before January. I feel like fall and winter are perfect for camping in Florida and I am itching to hang sooner than the Ocala hang. Anyone else interested?

    In Deltona, here.
We already have a few hangs before the big one in Ocala in Jan.

Keep an eye on the trips planning forum for sub-forum Southeast.

If you want to start a group hang, by all means, make a few destinations and times, throw out to see what sticks.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

It's not really hanging season for most of the sane people down here yet

Fortunately... we have FLRider for the insane folks

He'll be doing the last gasp of summer hang some time next month (most likely in Ocala NF somewhere?). Then next up (that I know of) would be Grinder's birthday hang on Veteran's Day weekend (Nov. 8-10). That one will probably be fairly close to you. I think this year it might be in Withlacoochee SF. Neither of those have started planning threads yet but that is why you look at the SE planning thread section and on the FL Hangers Facebook page.

Next event on the calendar would be the big FL Hang (#4) in January (17-20) which has a planning thread already. After that, in February (21-23), is the third annual Sherpa hang in my neck of the woods (about an hour and a half to two hours from you). No planning thread started on that one yet either. There is also usually a hike-n-hang in March or April. I have a feeling that the "No underquilt hang" in the summer will become an annual thing too.

Probably later this month you can expect the Last Gasp planning to start up and then October there will probably be a lot more activity. Keep your eyes on the forum and FB page and it'll start rockin' pretty soon

edit: I'm Dave and I live near Frostproof

P.S. I'll probably throw something in there in October or December (or both) if I have the time and energy

Hello from Melbourne, I'm also new and I'm itching for some hammock camping sooner than the "season" and probably will fit into the insane category with FLRider and few others. They did a no underquilt hang in July but I missed that.
So if you come up with something let me know..

Hey guys noob here from Jax and looking to get into hanging. I received a Yukon Outfitters hammock as a gift and never knew how much of a following there is.

New to the forums. Been living in Fruitland Park (near the Villages if you've never heard of Fruitland Park) for about two years.

Looking forward to heading out for some hangs soon. I haven't done any real camping/hanging in FL but after a couple weeks of camping in north Georgia and North Carolina this summer the hammock bug has really hit me hard.
Interested in checking out others people's rigs too since after two full weeks in my hammock I'm ready to upgrade from my Eno set-up.

Gumbo & I are from Ocoee (west of Orlando).
We'll be at FH4 for sure and Grinder's BD Hang maybe. Hopefully we can see you there.
