I see a lot of posts on Pads and questions on the best pad for Hammocking.
The way I see it (and this will be obvious as MY Opinion)
Pads are Isolation when used in a Hammock not so much for comfort. seein as how your not on the ground (unless you want to be)
Getting off the Ground and in to a hammock takes the hard ground out of the picture. and in the summer a Pad isn't needed.(Unless you want one) they have other uses.
If you have the right Hammock for you a pad just gets in the my way (warm weather)
In the colder months the Pad is added insulation along with a underquilt you can hang in colder temperatures with out the dreaded CBS (Cold Butt Syndrome)
There are more knowledgeable folks on here that can tell you the R-rating of the Pads that are out there but most of the time you can get away with a Good UQ (under quilt) or not, carry a pad if ya want its up to you.
hope this helps
IMO sWW
Buy a pad, try it out, if you dont need it or dont like it ya dont have to use it.
