I do not have adequate insulation at this time,
however I am planning on making some. I have quite
a bit of Insultex, and I am planning on making a few
underquilts out of this. I think two layers of IX will
do me quite well for our Texas weather. I'm in South
Texas, so it is even more mild.

For a Top Quilt, I am planning on splitting a silk bag liner,
and using that during hot weather, along with another
blanket and possibly a Top Quilt just not sure what material

That is the nice thing about Texas. You can get by without much insulation.

Well now that my girlfriend will be hanging
with me, I gotta make sure she is snuggly warm.
I can deal with cold. If I make her night miserable,
she will make the whole next day such.

My wife and son regularly use a down UQ, hers is a HG Incubator, a full length UQ and his is the Warbonnet Lynx to go with his Ridgerunner. They use them just about every time they go out.

I alternate from my WB Yeti, JRB Nest, 5 in 1 Jerry Chair (3/4 length lined IX), Full length double layer of IX, and going with nothing.

If the temps drop below about 72 I consider using insulation.

    If it's below 65 I don't consider it, I do it.

I've been comfortable in the 20's with the JRB; 30's with the Yeti; 50's with the IX.

We've also done fine with cheap blue pads; Exped DAM; and even going without and bundling up in a Military 3 layer system.

The bottom line for me is that Fall, Winter, and Spring are times for insulation. Summer depends on the forecast lows.

How do you like the Jerry chair? Is it relatively comfortable in chair mode? I'm considering one.

It is comfortable if you don't mind sitting on the ground and I love the flexibility of having it with me if I want to use it for the chair part.

I don't use it as a chair very often though since I do less backpacking than I'd like and since when I set up, I put everything up I need for sleeping, I'd have to take it off the hammock whenever I wanted to set it up for sitting.

To me it's best when I backpack as opposed to a multiple day car camp when I can haul a regular chair.
