    New lady here...

Hello! I'm new to the website, and yes, I am a girl. I'm sure there are other females on here?

My boyfriend bought me my first hammock a few weeks ago for my 24th birthday, and I LOVE it. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I'd never set up or spent any substantial time in a hammock, but I decided I wanted one almost a year ago and now I finally have it! My roommate also has a hammock, as does my boyfriend and cousin, all of whom will be popping up from time to time in my posts.

I'm hoping to meet some other people and learn more!

Welcome to the enjoyment of the hammock. While visiting these forums will introduce a lot of people to you, it's more fun to actually meet them in a group hang. There are sure to be a few in your area and new comers are always honored and welcomed. These are great times to learn about other type gear than perhaps what you have, and to get answers for questions that occasionally pop up. Happy hanging.

Thanks! I'm hoping that once I'm a little more comfortable and actually "ready" for an over-night hang, I can get out to a group hang!

    Welcome to a great place!

I'm fairly new to hammocking also. One tip I'd like to give that I'm still working on is getting comfortable in your hammock. Take your time and don't give up. There are a lot of factors that can give you comfort or discomfort in the way you hang your hammock.

To tight, to loose are the biggest I think. I myself am still trying to find that sweet spot.

    Enjoy yourself!

I think the two best ways to learn are, 1) reading Hammockforums, and 2) doing a lot of back-yard sleep-outs and experimentation.

    Welcome to the forums!

    Take it easy,

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. I wanted to major in journalism, but decided there was no money in it so I switched my major to English!

Welcome from South Carolina. There is a group hang scheduled in Hot Springs, NC on September 20-22. Even if you can't spend the night, come on out for dinner on Saturday and meet folks and check out gear.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
