Mamajamba coverage

I am thinking about getting a Mamajamba when I order my BB to use on my upcoming appalachian trail thru hike. What I want to know is will it give me enough coverage that I won't need to use an under cover. I really do now want my underquilt to get wet and it is going to be raining and wet all the time so I need to be sure I am covered! I just have never seen a Mamajamba set up in person so I don't know how well they cover. I would really appreciate some guidance!!

Good luck on your attempt! I'm jealous in an admirable way.

I guess wind driven rain can go vertical and splash can happen in odd ways but the MJ is huge. I think these guys and gals in the know would like to know what length your hammock is if different than in your signature.

Yes the BMJ will give you plenty of coverage. Even without doors I have not gotten wet while using mine. A BB hammock fits under it with room to spare.

The pictures are of a Gear Guild 11x11ft Tarp, a Mosquito Hammocks Tarp and the BMJ.

The BMJ looks smaller but it actually gives better coverage because you can hang it lower to the ground,

I will be using it with a blackbird so about 10'

Folks have gotten by with much less.. This tarp is basically a super fly without doors..
Huge tarp.. If you have endless rain, things will get wet anyway, they just do..
It is up to you to choose sites that compliment coverage from the elements..
Maybe pick up on some Dutch pullouts to close off one end if need be....

I can only tell you that there is a large amount of tarp in the MJ. My BB is dwarfed by it. Though if set up wrong or in a wrong direction in a wet and windy storm it could cause trouble for sure no matter the gear or the trail. I hear the shelter sites are all placed in good locations. From the ones I've actually seen this seems to be the case.
