    My cheap and easy bugnet!

My wife found this link ,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQRoEpK-7SY, on Youtube and decided to sew me a bugnet. After watching the video and checking dimensions I thought it might be a tad short and I was right. This project would be a perfect fit for a ten foot or shorter hammock. Not inclined to give up she took some material she had cut to taper the bugnet and sewed some short extensions on each end and the whole thing turned out perfect. She's a bit of a perfectionists and sewed a small hem on each end to thread a bungee through instead of just tying the ends as this is a slick material and could possibly slip loose on the ends. She's already thinking of ways to improve on the next one she makes. Here's a link to pic of the finished project. Total cost less than $20 if you have to buy thread ,bungee, material and cord lock , since I had everything but the material, around $10.

It should definitely keep you bug free. That's what I use and had it out at the "no underquilt" hang in Florida 3 weeks ago in the Ocala National Forest. No bugs inside, although I could hear them outside aknocking.

Don't you guys have those Gallinipper (spelling?) mosquitos down there? I'd be doubling up on the bug netting with those things around.

OP: Great job to your wife on the bug net. I've never considered extending a bug net to fit a larger hammock.

Hah! The mosquitos come in several types. From the blind mosquitos that don't bite, but, are thick in the air. "tastes like chicken" yah right, yuck. To the ones that seemingly multiply while your in camp and love your taste. To the ones that are so large, they carry an assortment of hypodermic needles and sound like B-25's. And many inbetween.

A good bugnet when it's warm is essential gear. Don't forget the bottom of the hammock or a double layer hammy. Yes, they are smart enough to come from the bottom, darn them.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

It's long been my opinion that Florida was originally founded as a military testing ground for insect warfare.

    Same concept, different material...

My better half picked up a panel for me this afternoon. Unfortunately, the wallyworld she visited only had one panel...now we've got to make another trip to another wally world...woo.

My wife got the material at Big Lots if WallyWorld don't have it.
