I modded my XLC with a Knotty shock cord footbox mod for using with the net removed. Very easy to do. Took about 10 minutes. All I did was take a needle and poke a hole in the inner layer of fabric of the sewn edge channel just inside of where the zipper runs. I widened the hole a bit stretching the fabric with a small screw driver enough to insert a two foot or so piece of 1/8 inch shock cord. I didn't do any cutting so there is no fraying and no sewing reinforcement needed. There were a couple of loose threads that I ran a lighter over really lightly and quickly so I didn't do any damage to the nylon. It worked out quite well. I used cord locks on each end of the shock cord so it doesn't stress the hole at all when cinching it up. It takes a bit more force to cinch up because of the zipper and rigid grosgrain backing or whatever it is the zipper is sewn to but the zipper seems to cinch up nicely kind of accordion like. I positioned my shock cord in the general area of the foot box where it kind of dips down. Just thought I'd pass it on if you like the Knotty Mod on your hammocks. I really like it on my WL Lite Owl hammock so thought I'd give it a shot on my Blackbird and it turned out well.
