    Me Warbonnet dum dum

I have the ENO doublenest and have been watching all the excitement about the Warbonnet BB. Pardon my lack of intelligence but could someone educate me about the differences. Aside from the attached bug net, shelf and optional double layer what is the difference? Seems like to me like an ENO doublenest with a foot box, whatever that is. I am wondering why people are so crazy about the BBs comfort but the doublenest is not talked about. I must be missing something here. I realize the newness of the BB might have something to do with it but all in all they seem like the same thing to me. After all I can get pretty darn flat in my doublenest. Anyway this is my cry for help.

Can you say newest fad? I knew you could.

Not to take away from the Balckbird, but let's face it.. it is the newest thing since sliced bread and Warbonnetguy is one of our own. The way I figure it... if I was looking for a new hammock I'd probably be all agog over it too. But being happy with my set up... I am interested but not ready to pull the trigger. At least not yet. The ENO is yesterday's news but still a very good servicable hammock.

Possibly a somewhat cynical answer... but I think valid none the less.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I was wondering about why people are so crazy about luxury cars, and bargain budget economy cars are not talked about.

Apart from the heated leather seats, more powerful engine, and optional voice activated GPS, what is the difference? Seems to me like a BMW is just a honda civic with a nicer steering wheel.

Seriously, the Blackbird has a pile of features that set it apart from other hammocks, especially the bare-bones simplicity of the ENO. If you don't value those features, then the blackbird is not the hammock for you.

As far as Rev's comment about the BB being the flavor of the week, I've got to disagree... what Brandon did is find a very clever way to sell an asymmetrical hammock that Tom Hennesey can't shut down, because of the way he avoided Tom's patents. The overall cleverness of the design means the blackbird, unlike most hammocks with nets built in, is crazy roomy when you're laying on the diagonal.

Compared to a Hennessey Hammock with a zipper mod, there isn't a HUGE difference to the blackbird, but there are just enough neat little features to make the blackbird the better hammock for a huge number of users, which is the reason you're seeing so many people buying Warbonnet hammocks.

To call it a simple fad is to fail to give Brandon credit for a very inventive design, and he deserves better than that, IMHO.

I got mine because of the Quality and Comfort.

Who all had one didnt factor in to my Decision, I bought the Claytor JH and made a mental check list of the things it needed to be Better.
Compared that to all the others out there and the BlackBird hit top of the list.

Im still Happy with my Decision and would recommended it to all my friends

I dont discount the quality and comfort. Quality I have gotten from all hammock manufacturers I've dealt with. Comfort is very personal, whats comfy to one is not to another. Yet every review I have read about the BB comments on its comfort. My question is how is it more comfortable (to the majority) than an ENO which from my lack of knowledge looks very very similar once you take the accessories off the BB. I was recently in the market for a new hammock. It was between the JRB BMBH and Warbonnet BB. The JRB won because I like the flatness, how easily pads and UQs can be attached, and that is truly an innovated hammock design that differs from all others. I can SEE that, I cant SEE that in the Warbonnet BB. The intent of this thead is not to discount the BB in anyway. Hopefully it will educate people like me and promote the BB. I just feel like I'm missing some pieces of the Warbonnet BB puzzel

This is where I get lost. Seems like you are saying take the "extra accessories" away from the BB its the same as the ENO. Then later you talk about the cleverness of the design which sets it apart from other hammocks. Are you referring again to the accessories or the actual hammock? My problem is accessories are not going to affect the flatness and comfy factor of the hammock. So then, what makes the BB more comfy than the ENO?

The blackbird is whipped differently from the ENO, so even without the extra accessories, it's going to lay differently from the ENO as well.

However, saying "take the accessories away from the blackbird" is like saying "take the bugnet and bottom entry away from a HH" Of course if you take away all the identifying characteristics of a hammock, it's not going to be any different from anything else.

You can compare the BB against two types of hammocks - super simple, featureless hammocks like the ENO, in which case the comparison becomes one of features and whipping style, which leads to a small difference in the way it lays. OR, you can compare the BB against other netted hammocks, in which case the difference and lay and the features, PLUS the roominess under the bugnet.

Good point, I have never laid in a whipped end hammock like the BB. As far as I read this can be a negative thing which leads to increased pressure on you leg. More specifically a squeeze on your left calf muscle in the BB

So we are not really comparing a revolutionary hammock design but just more of the same with very small differences?

Yes yes yes, this is what I'm talking about. Compare the lay of the BB to other hammocks and explain the "WHY" it lays better than this hammock or that hammock. Never mind the features, those are obvious and all I hear anyone talk about.

That has to do with the way and angle it is suspended I think.
    Never had that

Again, I think this is unfair to Brandon. Calling the Blackbird "more of the same" doesn't give credit to the amount of clever design that went into this thing.

You're not going to feel the difference in the lay without laying in one, so I suggest you show up to a group hang and try one out, or if you're thinking about buying one, go ahead and buy it.

Brandon offers a 90 day satisfaction guarantee on his hammocks - as far as I know, NO ONE has taken him up on that offer yet.

Oh, I thought of another difference in the way the ENO is whipped versus the blackbird. Search these forums and you can find several mentions of "edge flop" in ENO doubles - that is, where the loose edge of the hammock flop around, either laying on you, or flapping in the wind. It gets on some peoples' nerves quite a bit, and isn't a problem for others. The blackbird doesn't have this issue.
