This sounds like You have never encountered strong wind and rain at the same time. Even if the rain will not reach you directly the water pouring down over tarps edge can be flown horizontally by the wind and end up in your hammock. In this situation one must hang tarp very low to stay dry. And hanging tarp low makes Your life miserable under it.

These people promise good weather protection and spacious tarp at the same time. I hope they can keep that promise.

I just sponsored the Kickstarter project to get one to try. I end up buying a lot of gear to test and try out, but the Nube seems more likely to be a great piece of gear than most. I end up camping in a lot of horizontal rain storms, and the standard hexagonal tarps don't keep my hammock ends and quilts dry. I'm hoping this helps.

Also, the bug netting seems further away from my body than with other nets, and hoping that helps with heat retention in the summertime.

Video I shot today of one of the preproduction prototypes. Not the lightest solution but I like it. Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry about the sound quality, not the greatest.

If you fall out of your hammock, you either end up in the gear self or on the ground.

Kinda like this. 2 nighter in SNP, 11 inches of rain and a lot of wind. Still had fun though The ground was so wet and wind was so strong I ended up putting rocks on top of my tarp stakes to keep them from pulling out of the ground.
