I picked up 12 of these from Walmart today, not sure if they are any good. They appear to be sturdy, very light and cost me .79 each.

They work good.. If the soil is tough, due not use Flip flops to push them in.. Yea might see the stakes poke through Near your toes.. Learn fast, after that boo boo..

Will be eager to hear a gear report once you've put them through their paces and some abuses.

I use them for over a year now with only one semi-big problem and a few smaller ones.
That was at the FH3 (Florida Hang) in January. The ground was compacted hard in one spot and I bent 1 stake trying to get it down. I sloooowly reshaped it back to straight and had no problem with it since.
Now and then, I will slightly bend them if not careful, but easily restraighten them. They are not titanium strong but hold tightly to the ground for me.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
+1 on the titanium stakes. I bought a bunch from lawsonequipment.com. They are easy to lose so I spray painted them fluorescent orange. I do carry one MSR groundhog (big, heavy duty) that doubles as a cat hole digger.

i have some of those. they tend to bend but are fine. i moved on to msr ground hogs and lawson ti hooks. i keep a mix of stakes
I have them and did bend a couple of them. Used a little too much force on one of them to straighten it out and it started to split. Cut off the bad piece off and it works fine. You must be careful when putting them in the ground.
The main problem is they are specifically "tent" stakes. You should try to find the tarp stake version for optimum results.
I bought some also, but never used them. Use the MSR mini ground hogs.
