I'll be leaving a popup rally (I tow a hard-sided, aframe camper called an Aliner Classic) Hillsborough River P (FL) on October 7. The plan was to meander along the panhandle toward New Orleans (Bayou Segnette SP), and then up the southern route (via Lafayette) to rendezvous near Alexandria (LA) for the LA Hang on Nov. 7-10. This gives me a whole month.

Doing the Natchez Trace (pref from South to North) is on my wish list and I've been wondering how to fit it in as it would put me way up in Nashville and a long trek back to Miami, where I have reservations on 11/27 for a group Thanksgiving campout at Jonathan Dickinson SP (FL).

But to do another Hang in the same trip would be a real coup, so I need to look at some maps to try and work out a new itinerary. I'll have two chihuahuas and an old, blind, 26-lb mutt with me (all veterans of 2 FL Hangs that went to ab 23 degrees). All in my Switchback!

Is there somewhere for me to park the camper and then hang with you?
yes lots of places for RV's and campers.sometimes tn hillbilly brings his camper when his wife comes.we would be glad o have you.your dogs are welcome alsoneo

Tx so much for posting the links to past hangs. Read the two most recent. Gives newbies a good idea of the MO.

Also read one comment ab 40 deg weather. I remember two experiences where I have left warm, sunny Miami in shorts only to get a shock a few hours later. Once it was October and when I crossed into GA from JAX and it was really chilly. Was tent camping. More recently, I reached Ocala and had to change into jeans and a hoodie in the gas station's restroom.

I'm game for Sat breakfast wherever, Sgt. Troy's, and the paddle on the Buffalo River...assuming that this will be a repeat performance. I have my own kayak.

Will you be posting a food planning thread so I know what others will be taking/preparing and can plan accordingly. So far, I am participating in 7 group events between Oct and Feb.

I just splurged on the Camp Chef Oven w/two top burners, which will be really good for sites without elec. I ordered a 10' appliance to bulk propane hose but I may have to use the 1 lb canisters. I removed (reluctantly) the propane from my camper to install a front storage box.

I was hoping to buy a plastic/fiberglass 5-10 lb propane tank but one brand has been recalled and the small steel ones are hard to find and super expensive ($80+). Might bite the bullet if I can find. Reluctant to haul the camper one in my TV.

Mentioning this in case anyone ones to bring extra 1lb propane canisters and/or frozen biscuits/cinammon rolls to share. Really looking forward to this new "toy."

This hang is only about 1.5 hrs from my house, hopefully I'll be able to make it! I take it that it's more camp ground style? Do people usually go in on food, or is it more every man for himself? I don't have much cooking gear so I usuaslly stick when what I can make on a fire or on my pocket rocket.

There's plenty of good pre-made and/or pre-cooked stuff one can take. I take Ceasar salad mixes and home-grown tomatoes, as there's rarely anything "vegetable" to eat at these hangs. They appear to have an aversion to anything not "meat" or "dessert."
