Northwest Arkansas Hangs and Trails - Suggestions?

    Hey Everybody,

New to the site, and still a spring chicken in the hammock camping world compared to some of you! Been hammock camping for a year or so, but recently relocated to Northwest Arkansas. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for great trails or wilderness areas in my neck of the woods. The Ozarks are oh-so-beautiful, and I'm dying to get out there and enjoy some quality hikin' and hangin'! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you have an ATV check out Wolf Pen Gap, near Mena. It is one of my favorite ATV trails. It winds up and down the mountains and is very scenic. I try to make it up there about once a year. It is about an hour due west of Hot Springs.

I would suggest that you try White Rock Mountain. There are camping sites available and this is also on the Ozark Highlands Trail so you can get some backpacking in as well. You can arrange for shuttle services there as well.

You must check out the Butterfiled Trial in the Devil's Den state park... Depending on your daily mileage, should could complete this trail with only one overnight. We started early on a Saturday and walked out on Sunday afternoon. Check out this VIDEO (not mine, I got it from the Ouachita Maps site)...
