How about you just make a locked brummel. It will add some strength.

That would be to easy... yes I realize im trying to re-invent the wheel, But sometimes you have to start over to move forward.. Take the UCR for example, one of the down sides is, you have 2 locked brummels + length of burry as your minimum distance you can hang of each side of the hammock.. Say you use 12 inchs of burry, plus 8 inches for both locked brummels, that's 40 inches (20 per side) added on to the length of you minimum hang distance.. Now 9 times out of 10, you have a multitude of options to hang from in the woods, but what if, just what if you find a sweet spot, lets say on the edge of a beach. There are two trees, only two trees, you start to set up?? and , too close, if only you could shorten your suspension by a foot....
No I meant just finish your fixed eye in your second set of pictures with a locked brummel instead of burying it as pictured in your second picture.
I've made whoopies and continuous loops with shorter than recommended buries with not issues so far. Not to say it couldn't happen but like you I wanted to shorten the minimum lengths of my suspension.

In the second picture, it looks like the short length has gone through the longer length with the fid inside the longer length to bury the shorter length. What I meant to say was after you pulled the shorter length through the longer length, instead of burying it you pull the longer length through the shorter length and then bury it. I'm sorry if that sounds confusing.

I see you already understand Bubba's post, but since I sketched it, I'll post it.

Of course this leaves out your "extra" loop and is just intended to show the lock in a locked brummel.
