Try a sailing (West Marine) or arborist supply store for your rope needs.

Where in LA (assuming Louisiana) are your meetings? If your close to Lafayette Pack-n-Paddle may have what you need.

My guess is L.A. not La. I just got my second PL and will be working on a more refined PLUQ soon, so I look forward to seeing yours too.

how cold can a poncho liner get you down to? I need something cheap and quick that can get me down to 35 degrees. I have exped combi with pad sleeve. I will be using a Thermarest RidgeRest Solar pad in there. will combo be enough? I also have big Anges down 35 degree sleeping bag I will be using.

Sounds like that will probably work. I've taken a PLUQ with a piece of insulbrite and a military sleep system down to 15*. That was probably the bottom end of that setup though.
