We’ve been sleeping outside most of the summer. What started as a gear testing spot became the bedroom of choice. We’re about 2 miles from the beach and 20’ from a creek. You can go to bed peaking at the stars and wake to a dew soaked morning.
I’ve been using a uqp together with a summer blanket and wanted to report on something I hadn’t expected. It’s real quiet, no shing shing sound rubbing against hammock.
So far so good, I sleep pretty warm and it hasn’t dropped below 55º yet.
Not saying you should do this.
The blanket doesn’t pack small, it’s 18oz, it is reasonably soft. The thing that did it for me was the lack of noise when moving around. You turn to look at a critter and it’s still there! Kind of like the sound difference between an alcohol and a canister stove. Maybe not that big of a difference but you get the idea.
uqp is from 2QZQ
Quilt Liner / Summer Blanket is from Jacks ‘R’ Better
I know this is nothing new but if you haven’t tried a blanket on top, you should. The uqp is quiet too, just lies there keeping the fleece dry.
As always, Will
