    Hiding your indoor hanging hardware?

I would like to set up some good hanging options in my new house and am looking for ideas about how to hide the mounts.

I know there are options out there, but google has been failing me miserably with this. I remember seeing someone that had "hidden" their hammock hammock mount in under a shelf on the wall, and I swear I remember seeing some in the wall mounts that were recessed into the wall like a light switch with a post you could hang from through the middle of the box.

If anyone has some pics or ideas about how to effectively hide the hammock mounts when they are not in use i would greatly appreciate the help.

    Other helpful details:
I would ideally like to get a nice big hammock, Mayan or Brazilian, hopefully for both of us. So I will need to reinforce the mount area. Hence the idea of a shelf maybe spanning more than one stud. My concern with this is how high would the shelf have to hang to be an effective mount.

    Thanks,
    Caz

My plan is to actually mount one end inside of my closet using a 2x4 decoratively edged and painted between 2 studs with a eye bolt in the middle. Then when not in use I will just unclip one end and hide the whole thing in the closet. I don't really have a plan to "hide" the other side though.

I believe that was MightyMouse that had Duffy make the shelf for their full time hammocks.
I will look to see what I find.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

If I were going to install a fulltime indoor hammock for two people, I would something like the hammock found at:

Yak, I was thinking of possibly hiding one end in the closet, but am open to more ideas because I am also working on a way to hide some mounts in the living room.

Floridahanger, I'll look for MightyMouse's posts tomorrow morning. Thanks for the direction to look.

Mrmike, Those look like they would have the same comfort troubles that the spreader bar hammocks have. Is it possible to get a flat lay with those types of hammocks without cranking em tight like a trampoline?

Doubtful. Your sleeping 2 in a single gathered end hammock? You're experienced? or aware that you will be more or less on top of each other the whole night? (no, that's not what I meant )

I don't know of this is what you mean, but I installed hidden anchore points in my college apartment. In that case I made 3 connection points ( no need to go in to what for). It takes a little doing but you can cut a wall socket sized square in The dry wall, bolt an all thread socket in to a stud, and cover the hole with a fake plate ( electrical / Ethernet). That way you pop of the plate and thread in a eye bolt and your good to go.

The funny thing is when I moved out the land lord didn't notice the three new electrical plugs at eye level.

    Hiding your indoor hanging hardware?

Yak, I have seen where a big gathered end hammock works just fine for two people and I'm willing to experiment a bit

Zigerot, that's an idea, but my wife wouldn't want fake plug plates at eye level. I might be able to make some other disguise. You went into the side of the stud? Will the stud hold torsion loads from two people in a hammock?

I just bought the ENO mounting hardware kit and I am just hoping that it will hold me without rattling my paintings off the wall =P

Never tried to hang anything like this on a stud so I got my fingers crossed haha.

If you really want hidden why not place a picture frame that is hinged on one side. Would be fairly easy to accomplish, and if you made the frame 2-3" thick you wouldn't even have to cut the sheetrock.
