When you use the head end spreader bar without the 4" extension, the end cap gets floppy (and annoying). Installing the spreader bar through the loop keeps it pulled up and is only needed when not using the extension. When you get in the hammock and realize you forgot to secure the loop, you can just wrap the loop around the the bar and press the cord lock back through the loop to "button" it in place.

The tarp line prusiks will probably hold better after the line is worn in a bit. If not, you might try the Klemheist Knot.

Now for the most important question. Have you given your new RR hammock a name yet?

I have never posted this, but I cannot resist. Risking being laughed at I want to show you my tarp guy lines. I don't use any cord, I use only 1/8 bungee from JoAnns. They don't weigh much (though more than some cord) and they NEVER TANGLE. Also, I have about 5 feet on each tie-out but I can get about 12 feet out of them. I love it. I just shake the tarp and the lines untangle themselves and hang down completely free, each one, and I very seldom need a stake, I can tie off in so many places.

Am I wrong in thinking that the prussic should knot slip?
I use 1.75 mm Zing-It prusiks on 1.75 Zing-It continuous ridgeline for all my tarps. You just need to do four wraps on the prusik, then slide it up and down the ridgeline several times to wear off the coating. They'll stop slipping in no time.

As Paulie suggested, in addition to increasing the loops on the prussic knots, I would try removing the cord from the split rings (i.e., not running the cord through the split rings). Good luck!

Hi there, when I tried the continous ridgeline with prussick knots I had a similar problem after contacting Brandon he said after a while I could get it, but the tarp is basically designed for two tie outs as the ridgeline is built in with the seam. I now use a Dutch stinger on each end and once I hang it it's easy to move one way or the other, which usually isn't very much and it's very taut no matter if I pitch it low to the ground or high enough to walk under. FYI. Hang in there
