B2R thanks! Needs some Dutch goodness on vid from you-been too long.
Dont know which tarp she was using...guessing an OES StealthCat with pole mod but not 100% positive, I do know she pulled off a very lightweight rig. The waterfalls were nice, 3 of them within 25 yards of the hang site but there were really loud.

WV you were/are a strong motivator! Yeppers on the wilderness areas. It's funny that on a nice weekend every parking lot in Shining Rock will be packed; Middle Prong basically forgotten-so for solitude, critters, just aloneness it's a strong option.

Consider that the DL Traveler weighs ~16oz without suspension normally.
MM put on his own whoopie sling suspension which of course adds some weight.
That is ~7.4oz for the "UQ" to get him down to 40F since he is a cold sleeper.

I think the whoopie I installed is lighter than the webbing suspension it replaced.
I meant that compared to just the hammock body and insulation adding the whoopie slings added ~40g. The weights I listed did not include the webbing.

FIMB, would the integrated quilt be possible with a single layer hammock or is it best to stick with using a double layer?

OK, I got it now. I thought the suspension weight was added into the total weight. Adding Whoopie Slings would deff be the lighter option.

Who doesn't need a UQ when it's warm outside?
    This guy!

Thanks for the shoutout and the report. I was just snacking on some Minarda Saturday whilst marking a few more miles off of my Smokies map. Pelting rain again, but at least it's a day in the woods.

    MM,

I have got to stop watching your vids. You always make me add one more SE USA hike to my to-do list.

STinGa ... thanking you under my breath for another trip

MM another excellent video. FIMB is a genius. As posted earlier "the chilli is great"
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

I will be making a SL for myself later this week to test. I feel that the DL will be best in the long run unless going UL is your primary concern. Once the SL prototype is complete, I'll do some preliminary testing.

I've only gone without an UQ once. It was 75F that night and I could have gone either way. The sunburn earlier that day was the deciding factor.

Re: NC>Middle Prong, Radical underquilt unveil, banana muffin:

Great vid as always MM! And somehow I had a sneaking suspicion after the John Rock hang, that an integrated uq was in your future Loved the hanging spot by the way, and the look of that muffin!
FIMB great work as always on that hammock/uq
