Heck, I thought you all were talking about Labor Day weekend? I certainly won't be out this weekend.

**The parking issue was strictly with that particular DNR guy, not with the other, and that was the only time we had an issue. Of course, let's face it, our hang was exceptionally big that weekend and everyone was trying to squeeze in that one lot rather than spread out a bit better.

    Sorry

Sorry, Trail Runner is talking about scouting out the area and getting info from a Ranger for Labor Day weekend for a large group.

    Sorry about any misunderstanding.

I just got new gear and want to test it out before a whole weekend.

I'm not confident of a return call, and I haven't been in the woods since mid-June so I'm just going to head down to Mohican this weekend for an overnighter and I'll speak to a Ranger while I'm there.
OK, I went down to Mohican early Saturday morning and signed up for site 9 then drove the short distance over to the Ranger Station/State Forest Office and waited until 8am to knock on the door. No answer so I waited another 15min and no signs of life there (there is actually a snow shovel leaning against the building right next to the door). Checked there twice more there throughout the day and no signs of life.

Thanks to jlink79 and finally reading all the info available at the Sign-In Kiosk, this is what we know...There is a 6-camper limit for all of the Park & Pack sites except site 9 which has a 20-camper limit. At the kiosk it states that "sites cannot be reserved and are first come, first served" but also states that "sites can be signed for in advance." Obviously contradictory info.

I'm confident that if we choose Mohican we can get a good site since I'll be down there Thursday afternoon.

I Think Mohican will work. We need to get a loose head count so we know if we need site 10 or 9. 9 is closer to the parking area and might be good for hawling in extra water and what not. 10 is a nice site if we have a smaller group.

So, let your friends and family know so we and get a count.

P.S. It was nice to meet you Trail Runner.

I'm in for Thursday - Sunday. I'll haul in a few gallons of store-purchased spring water on Thursday evening or Friday morning so we won't have to worry about filtering or making a run into one of the campgrounds for water. Speaking of which, the water from the hand-pump in Campground B is horrible...smells like rotten eggs and doesn't taste good at all.

I'll leave it up to you good people to decide which of the sites you would like to use if we have 6 or less people planning to attend. It will have to be site 9 if we have more than 6 people.

While writing this post I realized that I/we may of hijacked the OPs thread? My apologies if that is the case.

    Labor Day Weekend Weather Forecast

It looks like Mother Nature will be playing nice for Labor Day Weekend...current forecast calls for sunshine with highs in the low 80s and lows in upper 50s / lower 60s for the Fri. - Sun. timeframe.
