    Twin Cities Newbies!

My hubby and I were looking for a lightweight tent and gear when we came across hammocks. What!? Lose (at least) 5 lbs from your pack and hang from trees to keep dry? SOLD! Super excited for our first hang. I'm a little confused as to where to find the times and locations of said hangs. We are looking forward to some new friends and great stories. Hope to meet some of you soon!

Hey Shug! Kinda funny you replied. While on the youtubes looking for lt. weight tents, we came across your channel. You were the one that started this madness! Looking forward to meeting you. Congrats on converting us to hangers, you certainly have a way with words.

VineyGirl, Welcome from just north of you in St. Louis Park. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. One thing we LOVE to do is talk hammocks, and suspension systems, and keeping warm, and cooking systems, and, and , and. Well you get the point.

Welcome to the forum, from Ohio. We have a lot of MN people here. Try to make a group hang when you are able to.

Welcome from a little bit south of you. My first summer hanging myself. So much more comfortable and funner in my opinion.

Thanks guys! We pretty much have our basic gear done. Of course I know it will be a work in progress once I see some other people's set ups. I can't wait for a group hang. Waiting for someone to start it up! Looking forward to meeting great new people!

Welcome aboard. You can always plan a hang yourself to get others to show off their gear. I'm sure they will talk without too much arm twisting.

Protip for planning a hang: Mention food early and often, if there is one thing we like to talk about as much as hanging it is food.

Even if you don't have hammocks yet, don't worry about showing up with a tent. Plenty of folks go to hangs in a tent the first time. I'm sure you can finagle your way into a hammock or two to try out. And if you're really lucky a few extra hammocks and quilt sets will make their way for you to be able to hang as well.
