I got my TXW-250 today and replaced the rope with whoopies. The weight is now 2lbs 12oz. I did not even weigh it with the rope but the rope by itself is 6oz. I really can't see where I can shave anymore weight off without taking it apart and don't want to cut on a hammock that costs as much as this one. For me this will be for car camping and winter hangs so the weight is not a issue. I will probably even stuff it in my pack when I know I will run into bad weather but it is to bulky for a permanent spot in my packs.

The weight is without a trap. I will be using a Tadpole or a Bullfrog, (depending on the weather).

I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet but was warned when I ordered that it would be at least 5 days before the hammock shipped due to the sale. I don't plan to hack away at it with a pair of scissors to cut the weight. A 6 oz reduction from the ropes is almost half of the one pound I want to eliminate. That may be all I can do without getting drastic. Leaving one set of poles behind as someone suggested for the foot end would save a little but I'm not sure that would be worth it. The Velcro down both sides for the z liner may be another target since I don't plan to get a z liner. However the savings from removing that is probably pretty small. I've seen people go way overboard on a new piece of gear trying to reduce the weight. Without seeing it I'm inclined to believe that there aren't too many things you could do to make a difference.

My TX/w is on order! Here's what I see so far.
    1. I like the flap closing for the pockets
    2. The spreader poles look a little thicker (also whiter!)
    3. I like the full length velcro - my PLUQ should attach perfectly
    4. The pockets look easy to get to. (On my NX, 2 of the pockets are obstructed by the pole pockets)
    5. I think that the bugnet at the head end is going to be a nice feature.

Thanks for the pic, spaceweaseal. Clark should use it on their site.
Their new site is easier to navigate but sure lacks the abundance of information that was on their old site.

Since the poles on my NX are black, and appear to be a smaller diameter than the ones in your picture, I thought those must be the new ones. I ordered on Monday with a note not to ship until the new poles were available. Hope I don't have to wait too long.

Does the NX 250 also have the same design at the head end in regards to the bugnet at the head end?

The NX has no bug net at the head end, only a permanently sewn-in solid fabric.

    Method of hood attachment?

The photo of the head end is consistent with a lightweight zippering the bug net for the head end hood to the nylon cover. Is that what I am seeing? In the older models of "tropical", Clark used just a tab (or few) of velcro. For summer use the difference is just one of neat appearance, I think.
