For me about 50 is comfy
50-55F is about as low as I go with my PLTQ
At about 50° that is the limit for my Poncho liner.
But in the winter I still bring it with me and use it over my head to keep the moisture from getting onto my down top quilt.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. - E. B. White (1899 - 1985)
Consensus is about 50°. Thank you everyone
I don't know if anyone is coming back here, but I have a few pointers about the woobie.
1- No one mentions the wind. I had the temps here drop to 59 and the wind was blowing. I had to hit the ground and use the hammock as a wind break. No, i forgot the pad and underquilt
2- you need to be fully dressed. I got a real surprise that night. I went ultralight and only wore shorts and a t-shirt. I had to use a poncho as a sort of cover.
3-it's amazing what a candle lantern can do to warm things up. I hung it on the ridgeline.
And yes, I survived to hike 10 miles the next day.
I have a poncho liner cut down to about 48" wide with enough length added to sew into a foot box - still just a single layer of insulation. I have slept comfortably down to 29* with cotton briefs, socks, and a cotton T-shirt. But, hammocks may differ - my Clark has a weather shield that keeps the inside temps warmer.

where is the best place to get a "woobie" is it better to buy new or will used suffice?

Sportsmans Guide has very nice new ones for around $25. I have bought their used ones and they were in good shape but did not have as much loft. Perhaps the new ones lose their loft over time as well.
