Just thought I'd update this thread after my trip last week.
I ended up meeting a friend up at Fry's creek campground last weekend and was pretty happy with the spot. It was fairly equal distance for both of us (about 1.5 hours from SD and OC) and there were plenty of trees to hang from. The spots weren't terribly far away from each other, but far enough to feel secluded once the sun went down. I'd have no problem recommedning the place and definitely plan to visit again.
Anyways, if anyone is interested in putting another trip together, let me know. Stil a bit time left this summer and there's also some talk of a winter hang in another SoCal thread.
