Thanks for the warm reception. I feel warmer than a Shug in the woods. The last time I was at the rainbow river I was informed that you cant hang in trees, but I also read that the rule is changing. Anyone from Florida know the details on when and where this will change?

Already changed, call before you go but they all should have things lined up by now. If you call and they say you can't hang there then just ask to talk to the park manager. We have had a lot of problems with some rangers and volunteers that answer the phones not knowing that the program changed to allow hammocks (they allow them in certain spots so you won't be able to just pick any set of trees that you want).

That rule was only for FL State Parks, so any National Parks or Water Management Areas are not affected. Also a few of the State Parks now have a hammock program as Samsara said above. Plenty of places to hang in our state.

Of those State Parks with the hammock program is there a listing or maps?

And for the record... I was the greatest ranger ever (I know Smokey)
Did someone say "campfire"? I'M IN! I love me some fire. Set a date. I'll take care, good care, of the fire for all.

A very hearty welcome from the Worlds Most Famous Beach, well, just West of it.
You already know about FH4 in January. Just keep an eye in the trip planning section under the "Forums" tab up top. Look for the subforum for "SouthEast" and you will find some group hangs coming up soon.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
