    Best hammock for kids?

I now have my kids, ages 4 and 5, addicted to sleeping I the hammocks the backyard with me. The problem is that I only have two hammocks, so I am one short for all three of us to hang. I know Hennessey makes a scout hammock as does DD. Neither one of them are double layer, which I prefer since I don't have under quilts for everyone. Does anyone know of a hammock for kids that has a bug net and a double layer? Open to any thoughts. I am happy that my wife gave me the green light to buy another hammock!

    Thanks!

I think the general consensus is that if you get a full size hammock then the child can grow up into. Plus you won't have to buy again in a few years when they outgrow a smaller one.

I have a 6 year old little girl... I made her a tablecloth hammock... Full size, they come in a host of colors easy to make and customize... Whipped the ends with hollow paracord, a Zingit ridgeline, and some grey whoopies... For about $30 she is good to go... She has something full sized, fully weight rated momma can use it when she wants... And you can make them double layer for a little more...

The simplest bugnet I know of is the fronkey style bottom entry bungee cord entry... Bias makes the buginator in this way... But the instructions to make your own aren't very hard...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

    Best hammock for kids?

For my little girl, I started her with a DIY sized for her. The problem is that they grow so fast it will only fit her for a season. So for X-mas I got her a GTUL. She loves it! And it will fit her for as long as she wants it.

    Best hammock for kids?

I'm in the same boat, have a 5 year old girl who likes my hammock so much I don't have one anymore

I'm talking with papasmurf to get one made for her. Looking like a 9' hot pink danger bird.

I made all of my kids hammocks based on their size.

Maybe only single layer, but the Hennessey scout did the trick for my daughter first night. Camping pad and sleeping bag and she was cozy and slept all night down to low 50's.

Another vote for the crinkle taffeta at http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/default.asp You can pick a short rectangle length, they get to pick their colors, and table cloth factory is having 20% off right now. No sewing....except bugnet, super easy, and cost effective.

If you decide to use organza for the bugnets, make sure you tape down the feet/feed dogs of the sewing machine and hand feed. Otherwise you'll be lighting the organza on fire and ready to blow up your sewing machine and everything around it ...just saying.

....actually it's too bad the woot.com's hammock special that was mentioned here on the forums the other day is done. Those would have been perfect for your kids.
