So I am backpacking the skyline to the sea trail and the hammock regulations are ambiguous. The family camp site do not allow hammocks per the rules on the state parks.gov but the trail camp rules do not mention them if anyone has info on this keep me in the trees. If not I will be forced into ground dwelling aching muscles and crapy sleep.
Set up late and take down early. Sorry, I am one of those rule benders who tends to bend stupid rules.
You could also try and hide in the bushes and stealth camp or try to show the regulation enforcers the low impact of hammock camping.

I am thinking of taking a copy of the trail camp rules that includes nothing about hammocks and if approached Ill break them out and ask where it says that. I hate California at times. They write rules unclearly offer you no ability to contact a real person to ask and then run around enforcing rules that you could not confirm.
Can you tell me what you ended up doing? We're going to be backpacking the trail in May, and would rather bring our hammocks. Any help would be appreciated.

I've read their rules before, and never saw any mention of hammocks being prohibited there.
Kind of off topic, but I didn't even know that trail was open. Last I heard, they had to close some trails due to storm-related damages. To be on the safe side, I'd probably call the park to double check on all that.

My advise is don't ever call and ask permission if it isn't listed as a rule I go under that free idea that I can conduct that activity. Generally rules and laws are written to spell out what you can't do not usually for what you can do. For example in the eastern high peaks region in NY you can't have a fire it says so in multiple places conversely the rest of the state doesn't have any signs to say you can have afire even though you absolutely can. In my expierence just use a lil good good judgement I've found that when asking permission of govt officials They tend to make things up as they go and depict it as law not necessarily what is the law or rule. Just go have fun and do like you said carry the book of rules if questioned simply ask them to show you in the book when they can't you will have at least shown good faith. Imo

PLANTS, FLOWERS, mushrooms, natural scen-ery and animals are protected by law from human disturbance of any kind.
