As for adding things to HF, well I suppose that we have a lot here already. If we adhere to the hammock topic, not too much more to do.
If I had an oar, and I really don't, I think I would be just trying to steady the boat right about now, waiting out the current weather.

You are free to decide for yourself that HammockForums does not
need to be marketed. Let that be your own personal decision.

Do not assume that everyone else feels the same way as you.
Personally, the more hammock-centric people that are here and
adding to the community, the better.

Also, this idea was never "only for people outside of HammockForums".
I think that a compilation of the neatest and newest things on HF would
be beneficial for many people. In another reply, I said that it would be
good for people who have been away on vacation or such. It could
be a good way to "catch up" on what you missed.

In no way do I think that everyone will agree with me, or want to
participate. I would never suggest that.

I also disagree with silentorpheus that getting information and media
out to others is "not the purpose of this forum". Who decided this?
I have always viewed this as a community that welcomed new
people and strove to educate more people as to why they should hang.

Why would you ever suggest that the forum doesn't want more people on HF?
Is this your personal idea, or the idea of the forum as a whole?
If the latter, I have NEVER heard this before... quite an odd stance for
    a forum.

You should actually read people's posts and give some effort to understanding what they are saying before accusing them of making statements they did not and going off on a tirade!

Actually, that is not a tirade.

I do not understand either yours or silentorpheus's stance that we
would not want more members, nor should we ever try to get more members.

I have a feeling that the owner would disagree with the stance.

"IF" we are getting so many new members, and this forum is fine how it is,
then why is the most members online from 2.5 years ago?

I believe that we have a great site, and want more people to participate
and grow to love it. I have no clue how anyone would feel differently.

I understand your point about slow growth, especially now with the
    lower number of moderators.

In no way did I suggest this as a way just to grow members.

The real reason that I think this would be useful, is to give some credit
to a bunch of the people who are spending alot of time and effort
creating quality articles and DIY writeups.

Do I think we would gain some members from this? Sure, but I am also
surprised at the lack of free ebooks and such about hammocks.
We have the opportunity to put out a high-quality book for free
and make a contribution to the community outside of this forum.

Do I view this as a marketing drive? Nope, but it is a chance to do
something good, and a chance when there's not that much info
out there. I would also suggest a free hammock app ..... but that
    is a different story.

Re: New Suggestion for a Changing HF

While we appreciate everyone's suggestions, right now nothing is changing with the way Hammock Forums operates and the same rules in the TOS still apply.
