    Newbie Hanger In Central Florida...

I'm a newbie hanger located in Winter Garden, FL. I just purchased a Hennessy Hammock Safari Deluxe Asym Classic (without rainfly) and will be using a Kelty 12' x 12' Noah's Tarp for my rainfly. I'm planning an equipment shake down trip up to Ocala National Forest sometime in September if anyone is interested in joining.

Welcome to the forums! It's probably a good idea to shake down your gear at home if you haven't already. Surprises in the field aren't much fun.

Thanks for the welcome octothorpesarus! Unfortunately I'm currently an apartment dweller with no yard to speak of. So, unfortunately, the only way I can shake down my equipment is to go out and use it.

Welcome aboard from Lakeland. As Octo stated you do need to try your rig out or either be in a position to bail if things don't go your way. If nothing else hang in a park etc just to work the bugs out.
Most of us begin our season in the fall. Keep an eye out on the trip planning threads and come join some of the best people.( bias statement there) you will ever hang with. Oh yeah, make sure you check out the thread for the 4th Annual Florida Hang in Jan. on MLK weekend. About the closest thing to a hammock circus you will ever find.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Thanks for the welcome olddog, I'm a year-round camper, so the heat doesn't worry me. I've already signed up for the Annual Florida Hang, so I can't wait to see everyone there! Hopefully I'll have at least a few hangs under my belt by then so I'm not falling on the ground in front of everyone .

You may also want to get in touch with these
folks https://www.facebook.com/FLHangers. I'm sure most are HammockForums members, if you can find someone near you, maybe they can help you out with a couple of trees for a weekend shakedown. Never underestimate the kindness of a fellow hanger, especially those Floridians. Good people, round and round.

Welcome to HF from just down Colonial. (S. Ocoee)
I'm gonna agree that you want to have a night or two in your gear before the first time you hit the piney woods. Apartments being what they are, you probably don't have the benefit of a backyard. Alas, let not your heart be troubled. I have a solution. If you like, I have a TDS you could borrow for a week or so. That way you could set up in your living room and start to get the hang of this thing. (hahahahahahaIcrackmeup) PM me if you're interested and we'll work it out.

Do you get that warm fuzzy feeling already? That's what we hammock hangers are all about.
