    First time with the kids...

Up until now every time I have taken the kids camping they have stayed in a tent and I have hung next to the tent. We had been planning to go camping for the last month, but something always came up that made us put it off. Well, school starts tomorrow so we took the opportunity to go out this weekend for the kids first hang and things went pretty well. I was worried that they would be a little scared in the woods without the false sense of security a tent gives when you are sleeping, but they made it through like champs and both said that they slept great. I didn't get many pics because it seemed like we were always busy, but I did grab a few pics of the hammocks before I tore down this morning.

Brimstone, looking good! My kids (7 & 9) beg to go hammock camping. I just wish weather, work, and "we have to go to _____ this weekend" did not interfere with important things like family and the outdoors. Course if it weren't for work we would not be able to afford all these cool hinging things.

My boys are 8 and 11. One of them is in football and has a game every Saturday now for the next three months so it may be tough for us to get away. We do have a "Father-Son Campout" with church in a couple weeks which we will try and make. They look forward to that every year.

Glad you and the kids squeezed the last drop out of summer vacation and got to the woods for their first hanging camp out.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

    Awesome! Thanks Dad.

Just an FYI for folks that check this out looking to take their kids. I read and read here and asked a a couple questions, but mostly read. Of the several hammocks my kids have tried, they like the Hennessey Scout the best of all (both of them). And the good news; it is very reasonably priced. The fly is a little skimpy for serious weather, but I bring the big Kelty Noah just in case and extra blue tarps. Have not had to pitch them yet. I know the 13 year old has eyes for the WBBB when I get my new hammock. I can't imagine not liking this, but I do realize some people just do not like the woods.

Glad you were able to get them out before they go back to school.
If it moves, you can eat it. No promises you will think it tastes good.
