We arrived later Friday night to find a group already hanging by the fire. We heard a Whoo Buddy and we knew we were in the right place. When I checked in with the rangers at the front gate, I was asked the names of other adults staying on the site... All I had were screen names so that made a funny start to the night... Let's see there's R31@x, zappa, mp3prozac. Lol.
We slept great under clear skies and a full moon. We were close to the restrooms which were fitted with 22nd century hand driers that were as noisy as heck, but it's hard to complain about things like this when I am accustomed to no bathrooms or running water when I camp.
The next morning we ate like it was Thanksgiving. 12 hours ago we were perfect strangers, today we are sharing our bacon and eggs. So neat!
Everyone lounged in their perspective hammocks, some took to the trails, and we walked our dogs down to the swimming pond. I got to try out my new Eno DN and np3prozac his new DIY bugnet. Cheddar brats must have been on everyone's mind; we had several packets on the grill for lunch.
We had a nice roaring fire after dinner. The skies were clear (again)! The temps dipped into the low 50's and I was snug in my 40 deg HG UQ & sleeping bag.
Morning brought another bountiful breakfast of pancakes, eggs, & home fries. Oh, and more bacon.
I enjoyed looking at everyone's setups. There was a little of everything. I look forward to another hang soon.
Thanks to Gastar, jofish, hammockpete, skypainter, zappa, R31@x, shrineclown, and mp3prozac for a great weekend.
