    Cleaning Hammocks

This thread made me curious. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=78504

How do you wash or clean your hammocks? How often? Once a season, wait for the permitheren to wear off, only when obviously dirty?

Just putting it in a washer and tumble drying scares me slightly. How do you do it?

I wash mine in my front loading washer and air dry (it's pretty quick).

But then again, mine are DIY an if something happens to it I can make another in about an hour and $15.

I go at mine with my garden hose and some camp soap. it just like washing the car, just be sure to rinse like crazy. First time i didn't get all the soap off and i has a weird rash after sleeping in it.

Regular washer, mild soap, cold water / gentle cycle and hang dry. Washed my DIY and store bought about 4 or 5 times each with no issues. Generally twice a year unless really dirty.

I just put mine in the bathtub with regular detergent, swish and soak some, then rinse well. Timing is whenever I think it needs it.

Remove whoopies, wash on gentle cold water and air dry. Usually only if its muddy or I spilled something in it.

After about 20 nights, mostly in summer, my GT UL is in the washer this very minute. Tide, regular warm wash, and will drip dry. Will take it as a spare in case my DIY fails or the grandson wants to "hang" with me this weekend as we travel to NM for a family campout.

Hand wash in a bucket with tech wash, line dry in the shade.
Wash it when it smells too much like its been lived in.
Don't use soap that has an odor/scent.
