At those two points I did a ten degree bend basically making the upright taller so my hammocks with a ridgeline won't drag the ground. Two years and still going strong. Just remember, if the bend cracks the paint to cover the bare metal so it won't rust. I also took the end caps off and hook a Omega carabine over the end of the pipe to hang on.
This solution is perfect. I was concerned about adding another piece of pipe to an already sloppy setup and this is exactly the right solution. Getting this bent won't be a problem. I'm an electrician by trade and although I hate bending conduit, I can get this done.

    Thanks dangerous.

    hammock stand extensions

Some time ago I posted how I modified my stand to extend the top so my butt would not be dragging the ground. I did this mod about 3 years ago on the stand in my bedroom and have used it every night since that time and it has never failed. I will see if I can dig up the pics.....stand by. These are not the ones with the dimensions but you can get the idea. These were made from HD exhaust tubing, bent at the local muffler shop.

I would probably cut 2-3 feet out of the bottom bar and put a smaller diameter pipe maybe a fence post into both sides and bolt it together on both sides of the cut

Could you just put the kids in it and build a TDS?

run some amsteel from end to end and sit on it.. the tangent of 0 is infinity, infinate force for a dead straight line.or rachet strap.

can you slide fence post pipe inside/over it?
