There's an outside chance that Kasuko and I will be going in Thursday. If so, our plan is to leave Rock Lake sometime around 3pm, getting us into camp before dark. We will confirm this over the next week or so, but if we do, I assume we'll have to be named on the permits for Thursday night. I can PM the relevant info to whomever's picking them up on the west side (the east side gate is closed - permit wise on that date). So I assume we'll need names, vehicle licence plates, and tarp colours, correct?

Anyone else renting coming from points east can rent from Opeongo Outfitters in Whitney. They're closed but are available to rent by appointment. They'll even deliver to rock lake. Really looking forward to it.

Okay; for us stragglers. I just called a local canoe company www.paluski.com I can pick up a 16' canoe on Thurs. return Sunday cost is 65$ plus HST. I have 2 basic paddles and 1 life jacket (for me). If anyone would like to jump in on this let me know ASAP so I can book it. They are selling off their rentals so there is a chance it could be sold if I don't book it.

It might be a good idea for the Thursday crew to have more than one permit for that very reason. Three permits would ensure that all three sites, if available, would be EGL sites. Maybe overkill, but definitely a possibility.

As far as baking goes, Tracey's brownies sound great, but I can only have a little; new low carb diet and all that. I was actually wondering if anyone was planning on baking in camp. Fresh bread and goulash would be awesome!

Thinking I should order up a nice winter UQ/TQ combo. And a Superfly. And a Svea stove. And.... oy.

Have fun this weekend everyone! I'll be at my cottage with the wife and dog, relaxing in the sauna like a true Finn
    Coffee?

I vote for goulash as well. Is there anything I can bring to add? Hungarian Paprika? Beef?

Goulash it is. Thanks Ggreaves, but I find it easiest if I bring all of the ingredients for the soup and split the bill afterwards. I'll hit up my favorite spice shop in the Kensington Market for some smoked Hungarian paprika. The only possible twist would be for someone coming in on the Saturday to bring in the beef, for freshness sakes.

Bringing a couple of large loaves of crusty bread to split amongst the group would be nice. Maybe two or three of the round roughly 12" loaves would be right, assuming everyone's planning on having some. We could try baking on site as well; bannock's nice, but yeasted bread would be something special.

That said, is anyone planning on opting out of goulash Saturday night? My meal sized serving is 3 cups (~700ml).
