We could always take a different tack.... a 9 person ($100/day rental) option that's not to be portaged, which at 300lbs, might be a wise anyways. That would limit us to Rain, Tanamakoon, Rock, Opeongo and Galeairy. Food for thought. We all love our own canoes however, and I'd be sad to leave old Lipstick behind.

18th sounds awesome. I know I said we didnt care about location but after looking at a map. I would like to through out a suggestion of Pen Lake or upper Clydegale Lake. Easy portages but close to the Barclay estate for a day trip if desired by some of us.

What about Rose Island on Rock Lake. The only reason I mention it is because it's close to Barclay Estate and it was mentioned earlier. I'm up for anything, however.

To be honest, I've been giving a fair bit of thought to the Rose Island sites. I've paddled by them quite a few times, but never with an eye to camping there. As far as I remember, several of western ones are set in light forest just above the water line. More info would be needed. While certainly not an interior site, Rock Lake does offer some nice attractions, particularly the hiking trail to the top of the eastern cliffs and the Barclay Estate.

The trade off is more boat traffic, a throughly picked over site firewood-wise, and the likelihood of spot checks from park officials.

I've stayed on the point on the western site on Rose Island. That decision was based on the direction of the wind so it would keep the bugs down. The access to get to the site is a bit tricky for getting in and out of the canoe. The site is fairly spacious with many good hanging opportunities. Firewood was easy for us (we were there in the spring) but will be picked over at this time of year.

I'll be watching this thread closely......and it will depend on my work schedule and if my wife wants to go or not. If I do commit .... it will be 2 people but I'll have to wait and see.
I do not wish to be disturbed - but I can't help it!

Bacon? Kasuko had his pork belly license revoked some time ago. You may want to reconsider!
