I want to make my own hammock and was wondering what size I should make I have some idea of what I want from my store bought hammocks but if you don't mind posting your favorite size and height I would appreciate it.

DangerBird 72
72" by 11 feet. I can sit up and put on a shirt, socks, whatever. It's my favorite by far.
Whatever size the widest weight weenie micro is... It's wonderfully wide and full of awesomeness...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

On my DIY hammocks, I go with the available fabric width (usually 60-66 inches wide) by 10 or 11 foot long (finished length).
Oh, and hello from MD.
Jason
I'm partial to about 60" wide (bolt width minus some for rolled hem) and 11ft long for a backpacking hammock. I'm 5'9" and ~160lbs.
That said, I have recently aquired a Yukon Outfitter's double that will be my car camping hammock from now on. It's probably close to 90" wide x 10ft long. and very comfortable.
What is your goal for the hammock? Obviously the larger it is, the heavier it is.
I like mine in the 10 -11 ft long range and 60(+) wide. I am 6ft2 and 280lbs.
I usually use a Blackbird but I do have a bunch of DIY that I take on day hikes so I can take a comfortable break while hiking.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
All 11 footers with 62-64" wide for my 6'1" 245 frame. No more calf ridge and very comfy. Anything less is not comfortable for me.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."
