I picked up a the tarp off a member here and notice the ridgeline is not sealed. Should I seam seal it or is it good to go? Thanks for the help.

You should be fine, but you won't really know until you give it a good test.

I haven't sealed any of my wilderness logics tarp and have not had any problems with leaks.

Have had the tarp deployed for better than 5 months now, pretty much everyday.

We have had a lot of rain in the northeast and out of all of it, on only 2 days were there any issues at all. And those were caused by using the spreader bar in a serious downpour. (6"/hr). On the 2"/hr days, no worries. All That happened was a drip drip drip where the spreader bar was in contact with the peak. I threw raingear over the hammock ridgeline and forgot about it

If I am not using the spreader bars, no issues whatsoever with the ridgeline.

What I have noticed, if you have the side pullouts, seamseal those.

And, as with most (all?) silnylon stuff, it stretches when wet so guyline tensioners are a good thing.

Having said all that, I have seamsealed nothing and don't use tensioners yet.

I will get around to it as the hurricane season rolls in.

Wilderness Logics has one of the best ridge line seams. I have not sealed any of mine and don't need to.
The only thing I might seal is the side panel pull outs. I had a drip or 2 from one of them on a particularly rainy weekend at John's Rock.

I haven't done anything to my Tadpole and it survive a few hard rains without a leak. You should be fine

This is all good to know. Its been raining so much here I haven't had a chance to seam seal my Big Daddy that I got for Father's Day. Now I think I'll just use it and think about sealing it later if and when the weather ever dries out around here...

Received the OMW as a Christmas gift.
Used it for the NJ Winter Hang.


I started sleeping outdoors full time in April.
Went for 10 weeks outside every night but 2.

Left it setup in the backyard lab as a sunshade for lounging.
Made a point of sleeping outdoors as often as possible. When night time temps exceeded 80 degrees with 90+% humidity, I moved indoors.

Broke it down only to take it camping, then set it up agian in the backyard.
Am now back to sleeping outdoors full time.

During all of this we had lots of rain and a couple Nor'Easters, major rain.

Only thing I will do is seam seal the side pullouts and not use the spreader poles in a major deluge.

Curently using a couple bamboo poles to create a full time porch mode.


I think in 5 months the tarp has not been deployed for maybe a week of that?
Now I have to work on washing off pollen and bird droppings. Rain takes care of most, but not all of it.

Same here, hung my Big Daddy out the first time after it arrived in a heavy rain and not drop then or since..

I had mine sealed within 30 minutes of receiving it in the mail. Never dawned on me not to seal it.
