To bug net or not?

I have almost always slept in a bug net while camping. I started with a Bias Buginator on a WWM and moved to a WBBB. I just acquired a WL Lite Owl and I am interested in not using a bug net. Maybe a heavy dosing of permitherin and let it go or I could use my hug bug net? Most of my camping is NC 3000' and up. I do have occasional LA camping and obviously I need a firearm for the Mosquitos down here.

Just collecting data and suggestions.

If it gets a little chilly and your on the fence for use or not, then I suggest a head bugnet. In the chillier conditions where most but not all pests may be down, you will most likely wear long pants, socks, long sleeve and only your head and maybe neck exposed. Just a thought.

Other than that, if it's warm enough for pests, a bugnet is with me. Cool nights with no pests may still have warm enough days for them to bother me while I nap in camp. I love my naps.

Also, my bugnet is DIY and I can remove it and slide to the end of the hammy for "convertible" mode.

I always have a head net for those day when the bugs on the trail or stream are driving me crazy. Sleeping netless is nice. No fiddling to get up to water the trees.

I went with the permethrin treatment and usually a quick spray on my arms, face, etc with a good bug repellent. Works well for me in the South!

I had my first netless hang only the other day in my DIY hammock - I wish I had done it sooner. There is just something about not feeling confined and the sense of spaciousness.

Netless is great. It's hot and dry here now and the mozzies are dried up and crispy. My bug net is mostly about weather protection on the trail in the mountains.

If I don't have to use one I don't, but during the warmer months I always carry one just in case. I like my sleep and I don't want to be bugged by the bugs.

The bugent is the one item I have been resistant to eliminate. When it isn't needed for bugs, the extra warmth it provides allows me to extend the range of my quilts. Ironically, my first hammock was a Travel Hammock (before Grand Trunk) and I loved it. I think I need to pull off the bandaid.

I've done both. I like having the net when its needed. My current go to has net like on the 2qzq mod4. Best of both for that hammock. I want to make a fronkey net for my tablecloth hammock. I already have and love a fronkey ripstop hammock sock for winter.
