Looking to drop some weight

I am looking to drop some weight on my setup. The easiest thing I see is to swap out suspension on the hammock and switch from carabiners to dutch clips. Anyone know how much weight this will save? I don't have a scale and all these weights are listed by the vendors. Anyone have any other ideas? The next best thing I can think of is going to a cuben fiber tarp.

This is probably not what you're looking for but I thought I throw it in for consideration anyway. If this is for backpack weight when hiking then one source to look at is water weight. One less liter carried is around 2 1/2 lbs. Carry water treatment pills instead of a filter for further weight reduction. You could probably save 10 oz going from the Superfly tarp to a cuben tarp. Your set up looks sweet.

Drop the stakes. Use other trees, roots, rocks or in a pinch a stick. I have been stakeless for a few years now. Like everything else, once you get used to it, you don't miss it.

Depending on wich suspension your changing from and what you would go to you could cut 4-6 ounces probably. Again it would depend on what type you might make the switch to but you could skip any hard wear to maximize the reduction. I cary 2 toggles for hard wear on my whoopie sling set up. No carabiners or buckles.

A lighter tarp, lighter stakes and no hardware would all be on the chopping block.

I do the same, but carry the toggles. I just use a stick as my toggle when I get to where I am going. It is a small weight savings, but it is a savings.

Smaller tarp if your comfy with setup procedures, CF tarp if you have $$$, Darien UL Hammock (13-14oz) if you want to trade out WBBB and have $$, and weigh everything...

Cheap digital scale can be had at Walmart for $10-15 accurate to the gram...

Good Luck, Just did RMNP CO 5 nights with 16# pack base weight before food and this included a Bear Vault 450. It's a never ending quest for the perfect pack weight...

Are you looking to lighten what you've got or lighten up by getting new gear? You won't get much lighter without swapping out some of your basic list.

You could get a lighter hammock and a tarp with less coverage. You could use 4 stakes instead of 8 and get by with sticks for the other tie downs. Swap out the biners with Dutch stuff.
On the other hand, I find after a trip, when I review what I carry, I can usually find a pound of stuff that I didn't have to bring, whether that is camp shoes, or too many clothes, too much food or whatever. It's a lot cheaper to not bring items then buy new.
Plus I like the comfort of the WBBB and the protection of the SF... The weight is worth it to me.

What Bubba said. You probably don't want to here it after forking out the dough for the BB and SF, but a DIY hammock and bug net can easily cut 8-10oz off, and a smaller tarp for those trips when you're not expecting heavy rain but would still like to be prepared.

Edit: or a cuben tarp if you can afford it
