    Cooking for a Crowd

So far, between Oct and mid-Jan, I am planning to attend 6 group camping events: 3 of which are Hangs (TN, LA, FL), and all of which involve potlucks/group cooking.

I'm a bit stumped cos for the FL Hang we are asked to note how many people our contributions will feed. I have no idea! So I started looking for recipe books.

Does anyone have The Boy Scouts cooking for large groups one? Nowadays I only usually buy ones that have photos for each recipe. Reviews (only 6) say it is colorful. Also, no "Search This Book" option, or cheap used ones.

What I really am interested in list of ingredients that say how many portions. Following link includes other Boy Scout cookbooks (one for DOs)

My rule of thumb is that, per six ounces of cooked main ingredients (starches, veggies, meats; not sauces, unless you're talking about a soup-style dish) in an entree, that's one serving. Note that certain ingredients puff up quite a bit when cooked (rice, I'm looking at you!), and that may require a bit of calculation.

    Hope it helps!
