    Softening fabric of hammock questins?

Hey guys I have been planning out this hammock for a while now and got my fabric in for it yesterday evening and worked on my hammock for about six hours and finished about 1:30am and hung it in my room and went to sleep.
I slept really great in it but the Materal is crinkle taffeta Polly. It obviously has been sewn already, but is their any way I can like wash the hammock(with out the suspension) to make it softer or anything? And if so will it mess up the strength/color of my hammock? Now it's a narcoleptic grey body and black sides! thanks a bunch guys may get around to putting up pics of it later today if their is any interest.

I made 2 tablecloth hammocks myself and recently washed them in with my regular laundry. I didn't do anything special, even left my amsteel continuous loops on the ends. Just tossed it in with my dark clothing and let the washing machine do its thing. I didn't notice a really big change, but they are definitely softer after the wash and a tumble dry.

I have washed mine (both the DIY and purchased ones) in the washer … cold water and gentle cycle. I was worried about the drier, so I just hung dried them. No issues with the material afterwards.

I put mine in with the rest of the wash, and take it to the porch and hang it to dry, and it dries quickly.

I've washed both my crinkle taffeta tablecloth & Eagles Nest Outfitters hammocks in hopes they would get softer. (Normal wash cycle/detergent & in the electric drier.) It made each of them only very slightly softer - not significant. No noticeable fading of color. I pulled the suspension off of them, but I would've wash them with the amsteel loops, if they had them.

Maybe fabric softener would make a difference.

I didn't notice any fading other than on the amsteel. My hammocks are a black/navy double layer and a navy single layer with red amsteel loops. They both came out looking the same as they went in, as far as I could tell.
